A Blessing!

We believe your child is a blessing from God. For this reason, we seek to provide an environment that is loving, safe and attractive for your baby or toddler.

Please take a few minutes to become familiar with the information and policies included in this online brochure. If at any time you have comments or questions, please direct them to Dan Hawn, our Pastor to Children (316-263-5285).

Organization & Promotion

The Nursery is divided into two sections: Infants and Toddlers. A child is promoted to the Toddler nursery when he/she begins to walk. Toddlers are generally promoted to the 2-year-old class in the September following his/her 2nd birthday.

Registration & Check-in

For your child’s safety, the following check-in procedure applies in all cases:

  1. Remove name & ID tag from hook. Attach name tag to child’s back.

  2. Hand your child and diaper bag to the caregiver at the door.

The ID tag must be presented to the attendant at the end of the childcare session.

First-time guests/visitors should complete the enclosed registration form and present it at the desk.

Health Guidelines

In order to provide the healthiest environment possible, please keep your child at home when you observe any of the following:

  • Fever/vomiting

  • Diarrhea

  • Excessive coughing

  • Questionable rash

  • Green or yellow runny nose

  • Any communicable disease

  • Discharge in or around the eyes (unless due to allergies)

Your child should be symptom-free for at least 24 hours. Likewise, if your child is being treated with an antibiotic, he or she should have received treatment for at least 24 hours before coming to the nursery.

The nursery staff cannot administer any medications.

Paging System

Please sign-out a pager at the desk and return it before you leave the building.

The pager will vibrate whenever you are needed in the nursery (e.g., your child becomes ill, or is crying and cannot be comforted by the nursery staff).

If there is a shortage of pagers, preference will be given to visitors and parents of infants.

Feeding & Nursing

A separate sleeping and nursing room is available for your convenience.

For bottle-fed babies, please bring prepared formula or juice . The only solid food served in the nursery are Cheerios and/or crackers (and only with your permission).

What to Bring

• The child’s own formula, water or juice. (Please use unbreakable bottles.)

• Plenty of diapers and a change of clothing.

• Other items which will help your child feel more secure, such as a pacifier or blanket.

• All items, including the diaper bag, should be labeled. Masking tape is available at the desk.

Sunday Morning Hours

The nursery is staffed from 9:15 am until the conclusion of the worship service (approximately 12:15 pm). Please pick-up your child promptly so the staff may begin cleaning.

(TOP)

Care Standards

The nursery is staffed by 1 adult for every 3 infants (1:4 toddlers), with a minimum of 2 adults.

A concerted effort is made to ensure that diapers are checked frequently, so that no child leaves the nursery with a wet or soiled diaper.

Cribs, swings and toys are sanitized after each use. Sheets and bedding are changed for each child.

Our Staff

The nursery is staffed by a combination of paid and voluntary adult workers.

Prospective caregivers complete an application and must abide by the church’s Child Protection Policy (copy available upon request). Training is conducted each fall.
